with 25 years of experience in the theater, film, and music industries.

David is currently a Teaching Artist for the education department of Lincoln Center Theater in NYC (songwriting, vocal directing), Queens Theater (songwriting, general performing arts) and for the I’m Bright Kid Foundation (summer performing arts program) in Kaneohe, Hawaii. He teaches grades 2-12 in Manhattan as well as in the Brooklyn, Queens and Bronx boroughs.

Originally from Oakland, California, David starred in many productions in his college years at the UCLA School Of Theater, Film and Television, and became the first Black actor to portray the role of Candide in the west coast premiere of Leonard Bernstein’s Candide. He is also a two time recipient of The Carol Burnett Award, and the first annual recipient of the Steve Lawrence and Eddie Gorme Award for excellence in musical theater. After appearing in the Broadway shows MISS SAIGON (with Lea Salonga) and KISS OF THE SPIDER WOMAN (with the legendary Chita Rivera), David became co-producer(along with producing partner DJ Randy Bettis, forming the production team BETBOYZ) of multiple top 50 Billboard Dance Chart-toppers, and has worked with artists Taylor Dane, Judy Torres, Kim Sozzi, Jenn Cunetta, Marty Thomas, Ari Gold, Brian Kent, Jason Dottley, Levi Kreis, Inaya Day and many, many more. David has served as composer/music producer and/or music director for the Off-Broadway theatrical productions: ZANNA DON'T(John Houseman Theater), CARNIVAL ROUND THE CENTRAL FIGURE(IRT), MATTHEW PASSION(The Actor’s Theater), RAINY DAYS AND MONDAYS(Fringe NYC), and the popular touring children’s show ROOTS OF RAP POETRYand the children’s show SIGN-ARELLA(IRT, Rochester Institute Of Technology). 

Audiences enjoyed David’s original music and lyrics in the long-running Off-Broadway smash hit MY BIG GAY ITALIAN WEDDING (St. Luke’s Theater). “Love Conquers All”, the show’s most popular song, was recorded by Grammy nominee Marty Thomas, in addition to the original recordings by Ashanti J'Aria. David’s original dance/electronic musical(written with co-librettist Chad Kessler), THE GROOVE FACTORY, was a sold-out hit at the 2012 New York Musical Theater festival, with it’s songs being spun on dance floors from New York to Singapore.The show was also 2012 Richard Rodgers Award finalist

David’s songs and music have appeared in the films  RAID OF THE RAINBOW LOUNGE, BEAR CITY 2, Logo TV’s THE A LIST: NEW YORK, and Amazon Prime’s multiple EMMY winning TAINTED DREAMS, for which he wrote and produced the title theme song. His latest projects are the up-coming musicals ORELLA, currently in a workshop/reading phase at IRT Theater, and SONG OF THE SERPENT, a musical based on the myth of Medusa. David is a proud member of A.E.A. and A.S.C.A.P.
