"I'M BLOGGING!"      December , 2016

I’m blogging! First time and I love it!

I just had the most surreal and fabulous experience of working with Grammy-winning legend Nile Rodgers. I have been working with Nile and the talented playwright/librettist (and dear friend)John Walch for years, as an actor-singer. I have been involved in several readings/workshops and demo recordings of their theatrical works. But I am still star struck when they say “Okay David, sit next to Nile while he plays his guitar"…believe me, it’s a bucket list experience I am so lucky to have. Plus, I got to play Rick James(long story)!

And the year had already started out incredibly for me with my own demo recording sessions of my new musical “STEPCHILD”. Zowie! I mean, what a party! LIVING FOR recording with engineer/production partner/bestie DJ Randy Bettis, and my co-librettist and dearly beloved Chad Kessler. The voices of Broadway’s Felicia Finley, superstar Carrie Manolakos, my girls Badia FarhaMarissa RosenCarolyn Miller, my dearest Erik Jareth RansomBrett Douglass and many more talented lovely folks blew the roof off, and we created something I am so proud of.

Additionally, we were granted a very successful reading at The Lark Play Development Center, helmed by the acclaimed and brilliant May Adrales (as director/dramaturg). The Lark is an amazing place to develop new work, the staff is nurturing, and the process could not have been more helpful, as again I worked with some of the best actors in NYC, reading our words and bringing our characters to life.. We have re-writes to do, of course, but the experience will make our show the very best it can be! Since the show is Deaf-themed, we were also proud to have Aaron Kubey(former artistic director of the National Theatre For The Deaf) and Kori Rushton(head of IRT theatre and also co-creator of the musical's concept) there for support  and very helpful feedback from the Deaf theatre community.

What’s more? So much juicy goodness! Randy and I (of BETBOYZ, our music production company) just finished our latest foray into scoring for film and television. We scored the new TV show debut of Lina Bradford, known around the world as DJ Girlina! What a blast and what a funny, charismatic doll she is! Though the show is negotiating for a permanent home at the moment, we expect big things from “Welcome to The Dollhouse", as the people involved are the type of top -notch professionals everyone dreams of working with! Go Miss Lina!

Even more: the BETBOYZ collaboration with Scandelle (featuring the fiercely talented Amille Harris) continues to kill it on iTunes. Download your copy of “Genderswag”, a bonafide runway-stomping jam that won’t disappoint and will make your summer fabulous(click image to listen/purchase). Promise!

I am also pleased and excited to report that I have begun a thrilling new musical theatre collaboration with the unbelievably creative and brilliant Erik Jareth Ransom! He is a singer/actor/composer/lyricist who has already developed a huge following and sizable repertoire of works, and the rock/soul opera we are creating together is already shaping up to be something spectacular. Keep you posted on that one!

...Also developing several scripts and TV projects, but I won’t jinx any of that by revealing too much too early. Yeah, I’m all superstitious like that...Congratulations to all my friends involved in music, film and TV and of course my favorite, the theatre, from Off-Off-Frickin' Way The Hell Off Broadway to Broadway and the Tony's! We are all in the same family, like it or not Bitches..Muah!.

Okay, no more blogging for me. Talking about yourself is exhausting. See you in the fall!

Much Love,
